Ken Morris began his career as a hair stylist in 1971. He opened his own salon, KM Hair Works and Spa, seven years later, on Bruns Lane. In 1982, the salon moved to its current location on Stevenson Drive. They expanded the salon in 1992 to provide space for more service providers, and in 2005 they built an addition to create the day spa. KM expanded its service line to include additional body, skin, and nail services. In 2015, the salon underwent another transformation as the interior received a facelift of fresh color and texture to give it a more industrial look.
While the doors to KM Hair Works and Spa have been open to clients for over 37 years, Ken still enjoys his work. His favorite thing today about being a hair stylist is the same reason he got into the business: Ken loves impacting lives and connecting with people. Making people smile has made Ken happy throughout his career.
Ken also surrounds himself with a staff who also love what they do. When you come in for your first appointment at the salon, you will immediately notice the genuine smiles on the faces of the staff. They love the work they do for their clients and it shows. A commitment to fellow staff members creates a positive environment at KM Hair Works and Spa, and it shines through to the clients.
Continuing education is an important part of working in the beauty industry. KM Hair Works places significant emphasis on training its staff. Staying current on latest trends, hair styles, color, skin treatments, massage therapy techniques, and nail care means KM Hair Works can help you look and feel your best.
Ken is the owner and Senior Stylist at KM. He studied cosmetology and graduated from Lakeland College in Mattoon, Illinois. Ken has always had a vision of creating a salon environment where guests feel welcome and their experience at his salon would be one that was above all others.

Stylist Pat Kuster is thrilled to begin her 22nd year with KM Hair Works and Spa, and has been a stylist in the Springfield community for 39 years. Specializing in perms, she is affectionately known as the "Perm Queen"! Pat also specializes in short hair cuts and is one of the few stylists in our area who still does roller sets. Pat LOVES her work, LOVES being around people and enjoys making clients feel special.
Pat is also a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and for the past 10 years has been one of the two local facilitators of "Look Good, Feel Better", a program designed for ladies who are actively involved in chemotherapy and radiation. The program helps the particpants deal with the cosmetic side effects of treatment: hair care, skin care, wigs and wig care, head coverings and make-up techniques to help restore a look of "normal". Loss of eyebrows and changes in pigmentation can be very depressing to those ladies. A 2-hour session with "Look Good, Feel Better" can make all of the difference in the world to the cancer survivor! Pat is beyond honored to be involved with this awesome program.

From foils, balayage, block color, fashion colors, to something simple or subtle, Maggie strives to make her guests feel welcome and leave feeling even more beautiful then they already are.
